Musicals by Candlelight returns to London after a sell-out series of concerts, with brand-new music for 2023. Sit back, relax, and experience some of the greatest musical theatre songs of all time performed by a world-class string quartet at London’s historic Actors' Church.

Each concert by candlelight sees a string quartet perform popular songs from musical theatre composers: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, with a unique (surprise) set list of songs for each concert.

Hear songs from some of your favourite musicals such as Les Misérables, Wicked, Chicago and MAMMA MIA! as you’ve never heard them before!

The Icon Strings Quartet group plays at all Musicals by Candlelight concerts. The group is comprised of award-winning musicians who regularly perform internationally, as well as at prestigious venues and events such as the BBC Proms, Glyndebourne Opera and the Royal Opera House.

There are six different types of Musicals by Candlelight seating: VIP, premium, standard, rear, onstage, and restricted view. Seats are unallocated within the section you book, so we recommend arriving with plenty of time to ensure your party is able to sit together.

Icon Strings Quartet will perform at all Musicals by Candlelight concerts. The award-winning musicians regularly play at prestigious London playhouses like the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Opera House. These concerts offer the chance to see world-class musicians at work. LondonTheatre1 praised the show, saying: “There are no flashing or moving lights, no stage revolves, and no props — just the music. It’s quite a bold move to rely solely on a string quartet, but a good variety of upbeat and majestic melodies ensures there’s something for almost everyone.”

The Musicals by Candlelight concerts take place at The Actor's Church (also known as St Paul's Church) in the heart of Covent Garden. Entry to the church is via the gate on Bedford Street. Inside the church, there are plaques dedicated to musical theatre composers such as Frederick Lerner and Ivor Novello, and performers such as Charlie Chaplin.

The venue will open 30 minutes before the advertised Musicals by Candlelight start times. Before stepping in the church, take a walk around the courtyard. You won’t believe you’re in the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden!

Latecomers can be admitted up to 15 minutes after the performance has started.

There will be a bar inside the venue serving alcoholic and soft drinks. Customers who have purchased a ticket that includes a glass of prosecco can redeem this at the bar. No food is permitted inside the venue.

The venue is wheelchair accessible by a ramp at the main entrance of the venue. There is also a disabled bathroom inside the venue. Customers with access requirements (including wheelchair users) should contact concerts@todaytixgroup.com to make their booking.
